OK, one more story from NC, and then we get back to bacon. My Dad was a lifelong bass fisherman. We were out on the lake, I mean Blue Pond, in a johnboat, me paddling along the bank, him fishing with his Abu Garcia Red reel and a Devils Toothpick. He hooked and caught a monster, at least 12 pounds probably more, but by far the biggest he had ever caught. He put it on one of those snap swivel type stringers, cracked a Miller Pony, and that big ol' sow made one swirl and she was GONE! Bent that stringer open and never looked back! Pops threw his beer in the lake, his rod in the lake, his tackle box in the lake, and I jumped in and swam for shore!
Last time he ever fished for bass.
