Earlier today I asked my friend who owns a pizzeria if he could order me a case(10lbs) of Cara Donna spicy pepperoni. I like Cara Donnas website its the only major distributor that you can actually see full lists of everything they sell. Anyway I opted for the spicy pepperonis bc I've noticed all the best tasting pepperonis have a more spicy profile. Last time I really paid attention to the invoice price for pepperonis where I work they were around $2.79 lb Im pretty sure they're still about that price so It'll probably be around $30 for 10lb not bad. But 10lbs is ALOT of pepperoni. I'll let everyone know how they are. Should have them weds morning.

Aimlessrayan, think about it.  Why should they sell to you at the best price when you are buying consumer quantities.  They are not Walmart, they are a wholesale company selling to wholesale buyers.  You want wholesale prices buy at wholesale quantities.

Are you talking about RDP or Restaurant Depot? Because I don't think either of them should sell to me at wholesale prices unless I'm buying wholesale. But RDP actually sells to me, and they don't try to make me feel like I'm inconveniencing them. They don't try to act like I should feel privileged to buy from them. They don't make a big deal out of it. They give me no BS.

I never said anything that suggests I think anyone should sell to me at the best price, so I don't know what your point is.

If you live in Houston, Vermont Smoked Pepperoni is back in stock at Central Market  ;D I restocked my pantry today!

I have to give them some customer service credit. I sent one email, and they got the job done!

They were $7 and some change (7oz) I think. They don't stock Calabrian chilies, and I have not looked for Aleppo, but I would be surprised if they did.

No, but I don't know if it is really all that out of line. The Molinari pepperoni I bought when they were out of Vermont was maybe $1.50 or so less, but it wasn't half the pepperoni in quality or flavor. You can't compare the Vermont to things like Hormel, Boar's head, etc. They are very different products.

Craig,

Maybe you've mentioned this before but do you know who makes the Boar's Head pepperoni for Boar's Head? I have noticed that their pepperoni seems to favor more paprika than other brands.

The sliced in the pillow pack is made by Armour-Eckrich. I don't know if it is a proprietary formulation or not. I'd guess it probably is.

Peter,
Have you tried the Boar's head and, if so, did you like it? Any comparison to the Vermont...

Bob,

I have not tried it although I suspect that I can find it in Dallas somewhere. I once bought the Boar's Head pepperoni while I was on a trip to North Carolina but I forgot it in my hotel room refrigerator when I checked out :-D. My recollection is that the Boar's Head product, unlike the Vermont product, is sold in a refrigerator case.

More than Hormel - about the same as other high-end pepperoni.
