Jon. are you trying to advance from a CPT to RRT?

No, I've been an RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) for 23 years. Politics at work are trying to try to 'weed out' some people and are making us pass the NPS test (Neonatal Pediatric Specialist). The young ones and new grads will have it in a cinch. Me on the other hand am studying my balls off with texts, workbooks and practice tests. Hell, I plan on pulling the plug in 4-5 years, I don't need this crap. Just gotta kick start the old knoggin a bit I guess. Funny, I am a primary preceptor and educator in 2 ICU's and they have to play this stuff, oh well, not the only place with crappy politics, that's why I work nite shift and stay out of most of it anyway :-D

That's what I thought. And I didn't know that they could pull the NPS test out on a seasoned veteran. Thought that test is only given twice much earlier on in your career and then you're good to go...
Oh well, good luck in your testing Jon....we know you'll nail it!  :chef:

There are still more they could require of us till they trim out what they want.

Adult Critical Care Specialty Examination (RRT-ACCS)
Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT)
Sleep Disorders Testing and Therapeutic Intervention Respiratory      Care Specialist (CRT-SDS or RRT-SDS)
Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT)
and not to forget the AE-C Asthma Educator

Nobody will take my 100 bet that next year they will tack another one on, my guess is the AE-C. Everyone disagrees with me but no one will bet!! Not that these things don't make us better, they do. But they used to be optional for a small increase in pay. Now no increase in pay and 2 managers told me out loud they are using in part as a 'weeder'! Thus my angst about it.

I bought a bag of red bird to see how I feel about it a year or so later. Will give it a try tomorrow.

The flavor of the Redbird was a little better than last time I had it. I got a bit more of the nutty flavor that it is known for. I pulled it pretty slow and a bit on the cool side. The overall flavor didn't bowl me over, but it was good. I certainly wouldn't be upset if it was served to me in a cafe. I like chocolate bombs, so chalk it up to personal taste preference.

I agree! For those who appreciate such things, consistent ability to get tiger striping seen in these pics is akin to being able to consistently get leoparding on the cornicone of NPs.

Requires proper grind, dose, tamp, temp, etc.etc.etc.....sound familiar?

And oh, BTW follow all directions and results like these are still not guaranteed! :chef:

Well done!

Sly... beautiful shots. I've found a couple of things with the Redbird. The first is that I let sit for week post-roast date before opening the bag, and that seems to take the edge off. The other is that, while I like my coffee pretty hot, I have found that letting it sit for around 5 minutes after brewing also brings the nutty, chocolatey flavors out quite a bit more. Of course, I'm using it in a Clever Coffee Dripper, so I have no idea how it would turn out using your machine (and obvious talent).

Thank you Barry. Yes, jeff ships fast so this was maybe 4-5 days post-roast, I expect it will peak over the next week or so and then start to decline.

These are 2 of the good beers I drank today, the Midas touch is probably the best beer I have ever drank, although it is a beer to savor, not consume in mass quantities.  The porter was excellent as well.  I also made the mistake of buying a 12 pack of Samuel Adams collection, it was the worst beer I have consumed since I drank Mickey's big mouths.  Total garbage to be foisted on non-beer drinking friends.

Hello Clay:

The Cuadra has been a good machine. I bought it from www.1st-line.com. It is made in Italy and is about as cheap a heat exchange machine with an E-61 brew head that you will find. I have had mine about a year and a half.

I had no thoughts of trading mine for anything more expensive, but last week a fellow near me asked to buy it. Not sure I want to spend any more money, but I am at least considering it. Not for any good reason other than something new/different to play with.

Too late now Steve...it's in the veins. Kiss the Cuadra goodbye.... 8)
