One of my favorites along with Pyrat and a local brew - Bardenay

Did you have a chance to try Pyrat before Patron took it over?

No, I actually did not know that Patron took it over - what's the story?

Pyrat is delicious as well. I guess I didn't realize Patron had acquired......
Like a good zin or cab or whatever.... I used to be thrifty but now I freely spend what it takes on rum or wine..
You get what you pay for..... I've earned it damnit!!  :D ;D

I am so with you, Bob - you can't take it with you as is well known.  We love to go wine tasting, and living within a few hours of outstanding Washington wineries, we like to take annual RV trips to sample good wines - rarely come home with less that 4-5 cases.  Interestingly, there are surprisingly good spirits and wines in the $10-20 range - just have to be lucky enough to stumble upon them.

I still enjoy it. I'm looking at a bottle right now wondering if it will be my next pour.

Do you notice a distinct citrus nose and taste to Pyrat? I don't know how to describe the difference now vs. then other than it is more of an artificial flavor and aroma now.

IMO, it was one of the truly great rums before Patron took over. Now it is simply good.

That's a shame - I have it neat, and still think it is a great spirit, and I can only imagine what it was before. The irony for me is that rum is my favorite spirit, but I need to be careful - I appear to have a sensitivity that causes my corneas to swell, according to my ophthalmologist.

While I claim Texas as my home, I was born on the edge of what is now the Washington wine country. I grew up fishing rivers from there to Boise.

What a coincidence, I have a sensitivity that causes my levator palpebrae superioris to relax.  ;D

Small world - I spent some of my formative years in Houston and Galveston  ;D

lol, I get that myself (especially after a long day) - my wife sitting next to me snaps her head toward me trying to catch me in the act.  she hates it when I fall asleep while we watch TV.

Sounds like you're an anatomist  ;D

From your avatar pic, it looks like we have even more in common. I can't tell exactly what it is, but it looks rather similar to my R700 in a AICS.

Awesome pics Craig. Looking fwd to reuniting with my toys at the end of the year. My other passion is competitive target shooting. A pic from the 2010 US National Field Target Championship, placed 1st in my division.

I've got a makeshift rubber band gun, can I join the club? ;D

I wish I had the brass (and cash) to go out and buy a nice over under for skeet/trap but realistically I'd never have the time to go to the range, plus where I live in NY isn't exactly the most firearm friendly county unfortunately...
