BTW - it started off as plain-jane anejo rum. I always add way more than I need so there is some to drink later. I'm thinking I should probably take a whole bag of crasins and a whole bottle of rum and do a limoncello thing with it. It only takes 3-4 hours to get really good.

I don't know if you saw my othercello experiments, but fresh blackberries are terrible in everclear (and I would guess vodka too). Fresh cranberries weren't much better. My success with dried cranberries have me excited about trying other dried fruits in brandy and rum.

I have a feeling dried mango would be awesome, although some I've had have been tougher than I wanted when rehydrated. Probably not good for a drink.

Craig, about the craisins, its because they are sugar added right? Blackberries and cranberries would both be pretty harsh without a sweetener, not sweet by nature. Just my 2 thoughts. Right now I am drinking a firestone walker union jack IPA, one of the best, following that up with a lagunitas little sumpin sumpin, the highest rated pale wheat ale on the planet. Yes, I think that's right about the craisins. I did the blackberries and fresh cranberries like you would limoncello, so there was tons of sugar. The blackberry tasted like nasty cough syrup. It was undrinkable. I poured it down the drain. The cranberry was drinkable and could be mixed with other things to come up with something OK, but I won't make it again.

I did a 24 hour soak of craisins in some Brugal Añejo rum. I think this rum mixes with fruit nicely. After 24 hours, the craisins were pretty extracted (I usually let them soak for about 4 hours when using them for a pizza topping) and the rum is sweet and dense cranberry.

Just finished a Jack and Coke Zero.
