You have one heck of a cellar Peter!

Don,

It is gradually dwindling as I drink the lesser bottles in the collection. I told my son that when I go he should move in quickly and replace my wines with cheap bottles, for estate valuation purposes :-D.

Dr Pepper base, with a taste of Old Monk Rum and a generous pour of 40 Creek.  Non-schedule III Laudanum basically.

Edit-for Commas, etc.

This will be TMI, but I had some dental work done today.  After 3 of the regular numbing shots, he asked the assistant girl for the "dxr" or "lpn" or "xyz"; something super duper deadning.  He shot me on the inside and outside of the tooth that he was working on.  He left the assistant to watch me while the meds went to work, and he went and did another job.

After about 4 minutes, I understood why he left the assistant there.  She was there to make sure I didn't swallow my tongue that I couldn't feel.  My nose felt like it had melted onto my upper lip.  Both eyelids on one side of my face didn't work.  I couldn't feel my left ear.  My bottom lip didn't work, my saliva glads were on overdrive.  I probably looked like Jack Nicholson in 'The Shining' with slobber dripping out of the corner of my mouth.  He started back on me after about 10 mins. of letting the "xyz" "do its thing".  He said can you feel anything now"  I gave him the "thumb" up with the only hand I could move at that point.

I'm mutch better now, but my gums feel like a dartboard.  So, I'm having a small drink to get rid of this headache.  I feel like somebody hit me in the head with a baseball bat.

Isn't it weird that the optic nerve in the eye can continue relaying to the brain, even while all the voluntary facial nerves are paralyzed?  Makes you wonder about that apocryphal tale of what the guillotined see while the head drops in the basket.
I'd rather eat one good meal a day than 3 squares of garbage.

I am only drinking water tonight, but for any Oenophiles that might be interested, saw an article a little while ago in our local newspaper about Wine from the elites.  I didnít go to the event, but found the article interesting.  I donít know a thing about wine, except I like to drink it sometimes.

Tom turned me on to "Old Munk Rum" at the pickup-the-oven event. We poured a little bit on top of craigs fluffy ice cream.  It was very good then and pretty good now.

Shiner Blonde.  I just finished reading a history of the Spoetzl brewery, and Shiner Blonde is the beer ol' Kosmos came up with and brewed as his pride for 80 years.  In the late 1970's Austin went crazy for bock, so they went from making it once or twice a year to making it full time and dropped the old "Texas Special" altogether.  Gambrinus brewing (St. Gambrinus is the patron saint of brewing) bought the place in the late 80's and raised the price from rotgut levels to Premium levels and I quit drinking Shiner for almost 20 years because of it.  My loss, it is a good beer, Salute Kosmos!

Also Elijah Craig 20yr, and Van Winkle 13yr Rye...among others. I had never tried some of these and really enjoyed many of them. It was tough but someone had to do it.  >:D

Jeff,

Those are some special bourbons right there! Were you at an event, or is that your personal stash?
Never had the Pappy Rye --- How was it?
