Jon,

Not quite sure why I had never thought of that before. It was REALLY good. My first shot actually had about a TBSP of Cayenne in it and Kay-Yi-Yay-Whoah!!!

A pilsen from Rio de Janeiro, Itaipava. Comparable to Miller Lite.

My search for a new go-to coffee led me to Red Bird Espresso. I'm using a Clever Coffee Dripper to brew it (no espresso machine here).

I think the description from the Red Bird Coffee web site is spot on: "Rich, balanced and aromatic, this espresso starts with a distinct hazelnut-chocolate aroma and progresses to sweet chocolate, roasted nut and caramel flavors in the cup, with subtle citric acidity. It finishes with a rich and lingering aftertaste. When used with other brewing methods, citrus and dried fruit notes add to the complexity and depth."

Some people have commented that it is like drinking a Snickers bar (which goes too far for me). I'm loving this coffee. Almost makes waking up early worthwhile. ALMOST ;D.

A lot of people on cofeegeek and home-barista are big into redbird. I have tried it a few times. While it was never bad, it never wowed me either. I think the descriptions of nut and chocolate are over blown, though it may have been true at one time. The only constant in coffee seems to be change.  Jeff is acclaimed for great consistency in his blend,  but no coffee is entirely consistent. I found the blue jaguar to be equally middle of the road. I am sure I will give them another try at some point,  but for now they are not in my rotation.

Used this the other night to make my pizza dough. This beer looked like a Double Bock, but has a very dry taste instead of sweet.

I have more details on my thread:

Possibly the worst latte ever courtesy of whole foods. It was a 10 second gusher shot - sour as hell. The shame of it is that Whole Foods bought a really nice  Nuovo Simonelli machine and quality grinders, but then apparently gives zero training to the people using it. If you aren't going to hire and train the right people, places are better off with a push button superautomatic - a la starbucks to eliminate the human factor.

A little brandy, followed by a little bourbon.....I hate bourbon, not as much a scotch, but, that's what Craig's Bourbon, Bacon, Pecan Brittle recipe said to do, "good time to sip some of the chef's cut"  so I had to follow the recipe.....RIGHT??? :-D It will be heading to the ICU tonite to share with my co-workers along with the 'candy burnt finger' :o Brought back memories of my countertop fabrication days and 300+ degree hot melt glue. I'm feeling the 'stupid' bubble up on my finger as I type!!!!!!!!!! Still to hot to try though..........

That sounds terrible.

I wonder if a teaspoon of Marlon's NaturKraft levito madre would have made it taste any better? :-D

Nothing could have saved it.  I took a few sips and threw the rest out. I knew it was going to be horrible when I saw her make it, so it was my fault for not making her re-do it, but I was not confident she knew how to make it right even if she wanted to. I blame the store for not giving training.

I bought a bag of red bird to see how I feel about it a year or so later. Will give it a try tomorrow.

Kilo Kai rum and coke zero. Not as refined as some of the rums I've been enjoying lately, but its throwback Friday. Bachelor style. 8)
