Did you try their corn whiskey? It's popcorn moonshine. Great stuff.
Went to the distillery when I was back home in the Hudson Valley in August.
Folks need to check them out. http://www.tuthilltown.com/ - http://hudsonwhiskey.com/
Indeed. I tried both the baby bourbon (even though I've had it plenty of times
) and the unaged corn whiskey, which was not what I was expecting. I thought it would have a harsh, dry bite to it but rather it was mildly sweet (but not overwhelming) and 'buttery', coating the roof of your mouth. Definitely gave me a different perspective about moonshine! Ralph (the co-founder), spoke about the bringing about of their Maple Cask Rye, which was such a hit that they sold out almost immediately. There should be more coming out within the next few weeks according to him, although from what I was told it's a very limited batch and was previously only released in New York and California. If you come across it I'd definitely recommend picking up a bottle or two before it's gone again.
The second I walked into their fermentation room that familiar scent of yeast and alcohol hit my nose and got me all sorts of giddy just like my starter does when it comes out of hibernation
