How Much Smoke?

One of the things I haven't really seen mentioned on here is how much smoke one of these ovens generates. I live on a street with shared fences on three sides, so I don't think they'd want large clouds of smoke blowing into their yards.

Do you mean a WFO?

If so, at first, it's like a fireplace or a large wood fired BBQ. Once it gets up to temperature, however, the combustion is very complete, and there is very little smoke at all.

I'd add that the quality of the wood is also a factor. Well-seasoned wood will give off less visible smoke. Also, your skills in fire management will be important to get the logs fully involved as quickly as possible and to keep the fire from smoldering. When I was learning these skills many years ago with my first BBQ pit, my endearing personality and radiant charm were all that prevented the neighbors from reporting me to the air quality regulatory agency. Oh yeah, and offering the neighbors fire-cooked food did help some.

+1 on that.  If you don't get along with your neighbors in the first place, there's not a whole lot you can do.  About the only thing that helps is free food. 

If you can stand them being there long enough to eat it, that is.

Yes, sorry I meant a WFO, otherwise the smoke probably wouldn't be of much concern . I think we get along with our neighbors pretty well, but if there's a lot of smoke I think they might not like us too much.

Hard to complain with excellent pizza in your mouth!  Always make extra dough,  and share the pies!
