Bob,

"Most online today" includes not only registered users of the forum but also Guests and spiders that go through the forum. Guests can only look at threads, so many are just lurkers or people who are only looking for recipes without having to register to find them more easily. They can't search and they can't post and they can't communicate with members. If you click on the first line under Users Online (near the bottom of the main forum page), you can see where Users are looking.

Ummm... No.
It is only a matter of time before EV and his side kick Psychedelic Bob, along with that saaweeeet Airstream become quite renowned.  :chef:

And their documentary crew might also be interested in the actual pizzamaking.com head count facts too.  ;)     :-D :-D

Bob,

Sometime you should log off of the forum and pretend you are a User, and see how long it takes you before you become completely frustrated. It is that frustration that often drives Users to register to become members of the forum. New members have to enter an introductory post before they can make full use of the features and benefits of the forum. So, to ask questions or to use the search features, they have to register. Often Users who become members try to get whatever they are looking for in their introductory posts, that is, without having to go on to the main part of the forum to pose their questions or start a new thread. I can spot these people a mile away, usually because they say almost nothing of value in their introductory posts. These people usually don't become productive members of the forum. As a Moderator, I look at all of the metrics from the user side of the forum, and I would say that we are lucky to get a couple percent of all new members who end up being productive members of the forum.

Ahh Pete, "productive members" sounds like when we tried to really change the way people think.

Had a nice pie in Venice this evening, mozz de buffala, cherry tomatoes, basil. Course I left the ipad in the room. There's always tomorrow.

I'll bet you that more than half of the "Guests" are search spiders. When we installed search engine optimization on a forum that I worked on, the number of guest users tripled.

Bob, my hat tree is full. Although I left my Stetson in some restaurant with my leather jacket. Fortunately I replaced the jacket in Florence, and the hat will have to wait for the next trip to Texas!!!!!!!
You just wait till I return and my new oven arrives, talk about producing......Why I'll...........
