I really hate to buy into all the weather hype, but I must admit, after last year I'm a little nervous
I'm in Pa., right in the middle of the projected path of the storm.

We're on the shoreline in CT, and they are doing the scary dance around here. Hard to find water, impossible to find D cell batteries. Our power goes out if someone sneezes too hard, so...

I'm on a teeny little peninsula in the Chesapeake Bay, but 20ft above sea level.   Isobel was a major bitch when it came through here.  The power was out for more than a week.  I'm really hoping that won't be the case this time.  I've got way too much work to get done, and the fireplace will only do so much to heat us up (more like suck all the warmth out of the house).  Wishing I had a fireplace insert!

And Ev, God be with you.  If it looks like its going to be bad, grab the furkids and go.

I was out getting more batteries, flashlights and more candles today.  Tomorrow it will be stocking up on some groceries that don’t need refrigerated and off to buy some ice for my ice chests. The traffic was like a nightmare today.

Wow...you must have been super nervous about your oven...how close did the water line get to oven floor/entrance?

Here in central NH--(tons and tons and tons of trees), power outages are a fact of life, so I am getting the generator ready...good luck to all in the storm's path!

That was the high water mark in the photo. Three hours later the water was gone and I baked pizza the next day. That was hurricane Lee. This one seems much worse. Time will tell I guess. I'm more concerned for the house than the oven. At least I have a generator to keep the beer cold.

Don't forget the fuel for the generator! We had a 3-day outage and I ran out of gas for the generator. All of the gas stations for many miles were without power too, so I ended up siphoning gas out of my car to keep the generator going. Had to keep the sump pump going or my basement would have flooded for sure.

I flew into Fort Laudale last Thursday night it was rough ride. It has been ok in this area. It look really bad for the northeast. I hope no one get hurt.

If you have about 30.00 you can find an inverter at home depot that you can hook to your vehicle battery. It's not enough to power your fridge, but enough to run a TV and a couple lights.  Used to good effect.  Spend a little more, get the kind with replaceable fuses.
