Cut that oak up and you'll have enough wood to last you the rest of your WFO life! Now all you need is a WFO ;)

Thinking about a cladded clay oven, actually. Don't have a clue where to put it. Maybe someday. Until then, I'm happy with my LBE.  I rolled it under my porch for the storm, no worries! So very glad to have power back... makes me wonder how Amish people put up with pesky kids.  No TV, no Wii, no lights, cold water, no heat, bleh.  "Go read a book!" doesn't work on 2nd graders.
I'd rather eat one good meal a day than 3 squares of garbage.

Good thing the tree wasn't closer to the house! My house is surrounded by six large maple trees. Every time it gets real windy it scares the crap out of me. My kids slept though our short power failure, but I know what you mean.

I just helped get my neighbor's trampoline off of the roof of a house across the street. The houses in my area are set back a ways from the street so that thing must have flown a good 300 feet! It's amazing that, other than a few shingles ripped off of a dormer, there was no damage.

Lots of trees down and some flooding. I have enough branches in my yard for a huge bonfire after everything dries out. About everyone's power is out all around us. Were were very lucky to only lose power for a couple of hours.

One good thing is that most of the leaves in my front yard blew across the street so I don't have to pick them up. ;D

Wow1 Glad you guys are ok. I got through unscathed. No trees down, no flooding and never lost power, though my mom did for most of the day. She spent the day here and I made her a nice chicken dinner with apple pie, and then took her home after her power came back on. I feel very lucky today.

Almost forgot, fellow foodies, dinner last night

his: ketchup, relish, mayo, cheese
mine: pickled onion, mayo, mustard, cheese

preseasoned with SP, garlic and Worc.

Mighty fine even if you have to eat by candlelight!

Took the two trees that were leaning on lines down yesterday with a neighbor's help (OK, I watched him push one of them off the wires and down into my yard with his tractor... gotta love good neighbors). Thanked him with a bottle of 7 Deadly Zins zinfandel, which he insisted on sharing with me. We had another massive one come down between our property and his, and that one will take a lot of work to get out of there.

We're still out and I expect that it'll be a few more days until we get our power back. Sitting in the library in the next town over. Power, light, heat, WiFi... not too shabby at all.

+2...Where in NYC does he live?

The strong winds have subsided but it is still raining like crazy here. Flooding everywhere. I just told my son Noah to start building an ark. The first floor of my daughter's school was flooded. My dad still has no power and it looks like it will be days before he does.

Don,

I think Scott123 lives in Morristown, NJ, but am not sure.  I think I still have his cell phone number on my phone (from our trip to NY) if anyone thinks I should call him.

Sorry to hear about your rain problems/and other problems and all the problems so many people are having with Sandy.  :(

I don't see how it would hurt to call him. Not that there is much that we can do other than pray.

Our problems with the storm are a pain but they pale in comparison to what some on the east coast are going through.

I still had Scott 123ís phone numbers on my cell from NY.  I called him and he said he is doing okay, but their power has been out for two days.  Scott 123 was happy we were concerned on how he was doing.  He couldnít stay on the phone for long because he said his battery is low.  Scott also asked me how I fared in my area (he had heard our area was supposed to be bad).  I told him our area fared much better than expected.

I am friends with John on facebook and think he is doing okay.  He posted a picture on facebook of a big tree that fell and almost hit his home.
