A few of favorite EC tunes that I loved since H.S. and was unaware of the Tulsa connection until I moved down here, which includes contributions by Duane Allman as well.

Blues Power

Bell Bottom Blues

And Tulsa's own's JJ Cale's ... After Midnight

JJ Cale also wrote Cocaine.  Cocaine & After Midnight were two of EC's biggest hits after Layla

Cheers !

Enjoyed those immensely. JJ also wrote this one that was made popular by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Here is JJ and EC performing it.

One of my favorite JJ tunes

Magnolia

I have a friend here that is a local musician, Johnny Johnson, who covers this tune incredibly.  Next time I see Johnny, I'll ask him permission to post some of his stuff on YouTube.

Whatever you're doing for the next 1:16:50, it would be worth stopping to listen to something great. With plastic strings to boot. Not much of him recorded, a treasure to say the least!!!!

Geesh!...no wonder nobody buys music anymore...the whole boxed-set on Youtube!? I remember well when this box was released (1990). Prior to this release, RJ's recordings were a mess and difficult to come by. At least if you buy it, you get the booklet that comes with it that has a lot of interesting info about the history of the recordings photos which are fairly rare for RJ.

There may not have been a Muddy Waters or Howlin' Wolf if it weren't for Robert Johnson. Most of these recording were recorded within a few months of RJ's life and yet they influenced so many other artists for decades.

I've got the double CD right in front of me so I don't feel too guilty about the you Tube thingy. And yes, ask most of the great guitarists 'who is you're idol' the answer will be Robert Johnson!!

For lack of a more appropriate description: F*#k Yes!

Too long since I heard that song.....I literally just dumped out of Chopin mid-stream and queued up Lemmy and the boys.

One of the finest bands to come out of the city I grew up just outside of and lived in for a few years (DC).

Esoteric, odd time signatures and strange chords....which suits me just fine. Killer band.
