I was listening to myself practice the banjo!
Not a big fan of that sound...are you a hillbilly Carl?
I once had a pretty good friend that was...he moved on but to this day I still say some of the catch phrases that I picked up from him. It always seemed like he was too wise to get out of his own way...if that makes any sense to you... 8)  I often find myself thinking back about that guy....most all the locals thought he was an odd ball.    :-\  the things people miss out on...I tell you.....

I'm just starting. No, I'm not a hillbilly, but my redneck sister-in-law and her husband say I have redneck tendencies!  LOL

The instrument has always intrigued me.  I have an old prewar Gibson and a custom banjo I had built.

It's been fun to figure this out.

Ok, you got my attention. Tell me about the Gibson.

I've been "just starting out" for almost ten years. I'm lazy and get distracted easily by new hobbies. I guess I'm a better mandolin picker than banjo, though I started banjo first.
I have a Deering Sierra and a Frank Neat custom RB-4 copy, and a Gibson F5g mandolin.

It's a 1926 TB3 that was converted to 5 string.  The pot is all original except the crappy ball bearing tone ring was replaced with a Sullivan flat top conversion ring.  The neck is a circa 1970 RB250 neck.  The resonator and all parts are the original finish.  The rim and resonator have the correct matching s/n.  I have the original neck and tone ring.  Sounds great!

An Irishman is never drunk as long as he can hold onto one blade of grass and not fall off the face of the earth.

I thought maybe you'd found a mid-30s Granada at a yard sale or something, and then I'd have to hate you. >:D :-D

Yeah, I've got this other one in the closet. Metal is all kinda brass colored with all this engraving and real fancy inlays and bindings.  I think it's from another country.  Says Canada or Granada or something like that.  LOL.  Picked it up for $100 at a estate sale.  Smells real funky....  (POOF!  I wake up fom my dream)

Yeah, I saw one like that at a garage sale. There was also a '23 Loar F5. $100 each. I could only afford one. :: :P
