Thank you Jeff.

I have been meaning to post in unwavering support of your assertion that there is no such thing as "one is better than the other" WRT to fresh vs dried pasta.

This Vongole recipe would have been much better with dried pasta IMO. The recipe called for fresh. And I am 100% sure it would have been better with a dried (Valentino) product!

Respect!

Red mullet, warabi (bracken), bamboo shoot and sakura in a clear broth. Part of a 12 course kaiseki (with sake pairing).

I love kaiseki. Was this at home or out?

Well, not eating it right now... this is today's lunch.  Bento box packed with mini veggie burgers, Japanese style potato salad, red cabbage and carrot salad and a couple of pickles and black olives.

Jon, I took the easy way out on that bento... I used Fantastic Foods instant mix.  But for homemade I like this one a lot, by using VWG is has a firmer texture and should hold up well on a grill.  http://marisaoconnor.hubpages.com/hub/Best-Ever-Black-Bean-Burgers

Done already! I pulsed all ingredients in the food processor and added the bread crumbs and VWG last and pulsed till it all came together. I did use the butter beans as I was out of black beans, used the bean juice instead of water and added some gr pepper and gr olives too. Quite tasty, I will be playing with this formulation some more. Thanks Tom!

Tom, just wanted to say Thank You, for the directing me to the Morning Star 'Garden Fresh Veggie Burgers' they taste as close to what I can remember from 20 years ago as any I've had. Definitely have that 'egg roll' flavor. Spendy little things though :-D I'll have to try to come up with a homemade copy and end up costing more anyway!!

We're having a garlic rotisserie chicken from the store, rice, brussel sprouts and sugar snap peas with some french baguette

Obviously making your own in the smoker or grill is better but sometimes, like after my stretch of six 12 hour nite shifts, it's exactly what I want and easy. I'll put some rice in the rice cooker, nuke some veggies and by the time the Warden gets back from the store with the chicken it's all ready to go! :-D
