Ignore User

I just installed a new feature to the forum, an Ignore button which appears with each post.

This is a feature that I wish I didn't have to install, but a lot of people have asked for this feature, so here it is.

The way it works is simple: If you don't want to see any posts from a particular person, just click the "Ignore" button located in the bottom-left corner of that person's post. From that point forward, you will not see any posts from that person. It can be undone by clicking "Unignore".

If you don't want to unignore that person, but still want to see a particular message posted by that person, you can click the "show" button (upper-right corner of the post) to unhide that one message.

From your profile settings, you will see a new "Ignore user options" link under Modify Profile. That screen will show you who you're ignoring, and, more importantly, if you are being ignored by someone else. I would hope that no one gets ignored, but I think it will send a strong message to anyone who is.

EDIT: I changed the behavior so that you cannot actually see who is ignoring you. But, you can see a count of the number of people ignoring you from your profile summary page.

And, just to clarify, the Ignore User option should not be confused with the Ignorelist located in your Personal Message Options. That list is used to prevent someone from contacting you via private message.

My profile summary page shows that I am being ignored by 1(one) person...are you sure this is working right man?  
Just kidding, if I have offendened  someone please PM me and I will make things right ($$).  I joke, but it is serious and I apologize...I'm doing better now.,really.

I won't comment about the Steve part (momma didn't raise no fool )  but yes, there has been a time or too where I wish I could have ignored my comments...the morning after. Now let this be a lesson to you boys an girls.  "There's Got to be a Morning After"...

Boy, I sure don't know 'bout that one concerning you Mean Gene...    You strike me as being sort of a pricey sum gun...expensive hobbies an tastes and such. But I'm hopeful that together we can certainly work sum'in out. Thanks so much for your inquiry sir!

So...you can take back ignoring someone? I just looked at my summary page and my dunce hat appears to be shrinking compared to last nights disgruntles. Thank you who ever you are....I am stoked now about winning over your friends/like minded folks.  This is awesome man....really!!

I wonder if any other sites have tried experimenting with a "semi-ignore" button? Like, here for instance....I see a few posts from time to time that I don't really like...but rather than being/feeling like a self righteous snob and completely pushing their ignore button and making them feel embarrassed....perhaps I could push a "soft" ignore...gives them a say 12 hr. warning and me some time to think my decision over before I actually send them into the corner...what ya'll think folks?

I think your idea has no merit.  There is no semi-diabetes or semi-pregnant, I don't remember reading about semi-chickepox, or semi-sunburned.

If people used their brain instead of their mouse or keypad, then we would be mutch better off.

Semi ignore?  Like saying "i kinda hate you" or "I kinda don't want to read what you type"?  Maybe read the stoy about Dick's hat band?

Leave no stone unturned.  Make no left turn unstoned? 

So someone may want to semi-read my post?

It really isn't "sooo cool" to see what others think of someone(in a negative way) is it. Use the mouse or keypad if you don't like what you read and get on with your life,right friend?

I must post too much, or post stupid stuff too.  I also have an ignore.  I think I am going to stop posting so much, or either watch what I post.  I know I am a scatterbrain sometimes.
