I have been taking some cooking classes at my favorite India Restaurant in town. One of my favorite dishes is their Chicken Masala. I was wondering how it would taste on one of my pizza doughs.

My question is three fold.

1. Would i cover it with cheese?

2. Has anyone tried this before with Curry, Chicken Masala, Lamb Korma, etc....

3. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I welcome any comments. PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Makes a very good pizza with paneer chese, but IMO it is better just served on a bed of basmati rice, maybe with some fresh-baked naan.

Yes it does work there is a place here I'm houston called Bombay pizza and they do Indian ingredients on a thin flat bread

I've only tried it once wasn't very filling but I can probably say it was because of the thin crust they use. The pizza was delicious check out the slumdog and the gateway to India

My partner is Indian and is an excellent cook. His Tandoori Chicken is awesome when cooked in the tandoor I gave him last Christmas. So one night he brought over all of the marinated chicken and we used my oven as the "tandoor". And because we had it on hand for the other pizzas (no prior plans to make an Indian pizza), we decided that blue cheese would be the most appropriate of the cheeses we had. And it was good.

Very good, in fact. Sorry to say no pics but we will definitely repeat.

I will post pics next Indian pizza party.

I a tiki massala pizza with no cheese... its soooo good. I just use extra clarified butter when I make the sauce instead of using cheese and it turns out great. I top the pizza with onions and a blend of spicy and not spicy peppers. I use this recipe for the chicken and its awesome!

I've been to a number of pizza shops that had pizzas with Indian flavors on their menu. I think you can experiment with the dough too.

Chicken Masala Pizza

Tonight, i took my last pizza dough that I made with beer and pressed out a 14" pizza. I learned to make Chicken Masala in my cooking class, but it was easier to just buy a pint from the Restaurant. (Chicken Masala done right takes a day to marinate the chicken, then bake the chicken, then add the chicken to the Masala sauce that you make in a separate pan. Very long process)

Since the pieces of Chicken are large, I separate them from the sauce and cut them into smaller pieces to put on the pizza.

Bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes on a pizza screen in my home oven. (basic heating element oven)

My friends and i really enjoy this style of pizza. A nice change up with an India flavor. I might try this again with the Lamb dish next time for fun.

Sorry for the late reply (I just saw the thread), but I used to live in Calgary, AB and there was a very large population of East Indian immigrants there. Many of the local pizza shops were run by them, and it was not uncommon to find indian toppings on the pizzas. I have to run out quick, but if anyone is interested I can post some of their menus later.

Again, this is not a pizza that I would make often, but every once in a while, when you just want to change things up a bit for your friends and family. This is a great way to do that and have fun making it as well.

Also, I am wondering what the cost is on some India Style pizza? Since Chicken Masala takes a few days to make, due to the marinading process, it has to add to the cost of the pizza.

The 2 recipes at the top that you learned to make at your cooking class look very skillfully executed. And the Chicken Masala pie is baked perfectly, very tasty looking.

My I suggest a Gouda/lamb pie perhaps......
