The area in which I currently reside was at one point under a shallow sea for enough years to build up 3000 feet of limestone. Now it isn't. Climate changes.
Mankind is a powerful influence upon the world, but mankind is also the most adaptable of all the animals. We are damaging the Earth, but the Earth does not care. When the environment changes, we adapt.
The real question for me boils down to this:
The developed countries have reduced the amount of pollution to the point that we have hit diminishing returns. If you have a real concern about the environment and "climate change" look to the second and third worlds to effect real change that will reduce "carbon footprints" at a relative low cost.
That does not work politically of course, nor does it increase fundraising among the guilt-filled "elite" of the 1st world countries, so it is not the accepted wisdom, although it is common sense.
