I just purchased a 525 Watt Kitchen aid mixer.  Does anyone know if the new style mixer 600 cork screw dough hook will fit it?

Yes it will fit.   But supposedly the 600 watt has metal gears in it and the 525 watt doesn't.  Or something.  But I know it will fit cause I used one on mine for a short period of time before I exchanged it for the 600 watt model.  I'm assuming you're talking about the "spiral" hook?

Yes.  I've moved up in the world.  I know its not the greatest but I've burned up two bread machines making dough.  How much dough can this thing safely handle?  I was making 1 pound of dough in the bread machines.

 Hi dkipta,
I have the same mixer. I have gone as high as 1000grams(7-8cups) of High Gluten flour with 60% hydration, It makes 3 1/2 pounds of dough. I am not sure if it can handle more than that even though Kitchen Aid claims otherwise. You may be able to use more than 7 cups of flour using a lower protien flour like all purpose? The biggest problem with these Kitchen Aids is that the dough tends to stick to the hook and spin in circles. In any case they are durable and will be a improvement from you're smaller bread machine.

The spiral hook kneads way better than the regular hook, or at least mine did.  I also didn't have as much of a problem with the dough trying to "climb" the spiral hook like it did with the regular hook. I have one that I don't need that I'll sell cheap if anyone wants it.   It's used but it wasn't used all that much.  I can post a pic of it if you want.

I have a new 5 qt commericial that is 450 watts w/ the spiral hook.I bake  bread in it with 2.6 kilos of finished dough. The hydration is a tad higher than pizza dough (73%) . It has no problem with 2 kilos at 63% of pizza dough..
I used up three (over 4years)of the 325watt commericial mixers doing 10 loaves every other week of 1730g  and 73% hydration high gluten. Fortunatly I paid the $55 for the service contract, and when one would go t.u. they would send me a new one.

dkipta,  do NOT use a spiral dough hook on your older Pro 6 (KP2671) model.  It may damage your mixer due to the main shaft being driven UPWARDS into the planetary.  The newer Pro 600 models have an additional retainer ring on the main shaft that will PREVENT this from happening.
