Who makes the best quality gas ranges these days?

My GE XL44 oven has failed. I replaced igniter and burner and it still won't work. And I'm about sick of F'n with it. I'm thinking for the cost of a service call and repair that I should consider just getting a new one as it's pretty old, And I always thought it kinda sucked anyways. Would not want to spend more than ~$700. I'd like one with pilot lights instead of the electric oven igniter's (they only last ~5 years and they draw 500 watts the whole time the oven is on WTF?!?) But, I suppose they don't even make good ol' school ovens any more unless you want to spend big bucks.

It is hard to find pilot lights, but it can be done when looking at good used ovens. Compare the cost of running the pilot 365 days a year vs igniter. My oven is at least 15 years old and the igniter has never failed.

I saved up for a bertazzoni gas range when i redid my kitchen... but, if i was on a budget of 700$, i would get a maytag. they're solid. big oven, and well made.
its amazing, but if you want straight mechanical, like no digital controls etc, your choices are either really low end, or really high end.

     Well, I have the GE gas range with 5 gas burners and convection gas oven that is 5 cu' and love it(model PGB916sem1ss, serial# rm252231p). I don't think they make this exact model anymore but I'm sure they have something similar. It has convection bake and roast and gets slightly over 550, maybe 570 avg after heating stone for 1 hour. More than what your willing to spend but it has been a great range. I would get it again. Comparable ranges would be the 2 pictured in this link. Remember, buy at the top of the line and only cry once....or at least not as often

 Here's a copy of consumer reports site listing their picks from best to worse. It is the best I could get it to copy. On their site it comes up with much more info. I get WAY more benefit from the 25 dollar website that I would from the magazine. Not the end all, say all, for info but I've found it a pretty good site. GE and LG are their top picks for awhile now.
