I chafed at the size limit also at first, being a member of boards that allow linking and large pics.  However, I have come to agree with the limitations.

First, linking leads to dead links, which totally suck.  Here you can go back to the beginning and each and every picture posted is still there.  Wonderful!

Second, huge ass pictures that make you scroll suck too.  Some people have giant monitors and forget that the rest of the world does not.

Lastly, it is very easy to get the correct size photo, simply resize your pic to 600x450, and 99.9% of the time it will be less than 128kb.  If in doubt, simply right click on the photo icon and check under "properties".

All that said, I WOULD like to see the limit upped so that 800x600 was supported, say 250 kb.

PERFECTLY STATED!!!
and... I second your motion. :)

I never noticed it before today, but pictures wider than 800px are automatically reduced to 800px by pizzamaking.com, so there is no point uploading anything wider than 800px after resizing/cropping.

800x600 and no limit on the total would be a good compromise. Upload via tapatalk (but hosted by pizzamaking.com) would be really good too.

Exactly. That's my main reason for keeping all images here, on my server, instead of hot-linking. First, the images will always be here. Second, we're not at the mercy of some other site (plus we're not stealing their bandwidth).

Here's a little test. From one original photo, I created two jpegs. I deliberately exported at 800 pixels wide to eliminate any server-side compression artifacts.  The first is 100K and the second is 190K. Can you tell the difference? The quality and settings of your monitor will matter.

I've got a pretty high-end monitor and I really can't see any difference.

Exactly what I was trying to explain here when discussing the .jpg quality setting: http://www.pizzamaking.com/forum/index.php/topic,23386.0.html

We had to wait for Steve to increase the maximum size to prove the point. If it is easy to do, perhaps Steve could increase the maximum pixel width just to see.

Steve - I appreciate your responsiveness to the request.  If nothing else the increase in the maximum total should be a big help.  Thanks.

I have found this to be helpful already. Less pulling out of my already scarce hair.

I have a decent monitor too and the background on the 100 looks better than the 190

On Bills first pic...look above the crack in the brick behind the photog tool.
