I use the ASMs straight out of the can. For my NY pizza I run then through a small food mill. Sometimes I just use them as is with some basil and fresh mozz.
I found the Rienzi's to be overly bitter, or sour, or something. It was just an off taste I did not like. I tried some other brands of crushed tomatoes and found a similar taste.
Until I can get real SMs locally for the same price, or find a place that I can get some Stanislaus products to try, I'll stick with with the ASM's. They deliver a taste I like, whether straight or with some additions. I also like to add them straight to soups or to sauces I'm making with garden tomatoes.
