Ranch dressing...?

 I'm very puzzled by this. I was just watching a tv show on the travel channel, and they were doing a tour of pizza places.

One place they visited indicated they use ranch dressing instead of tomato sauce on their pizzas.

Has anyone tried this?  Is it safe?  Somehow it seems kind of risky to heat up something like ranch dressing.
Seems more like a recipe for botulism/food poisoning than for pizza.

If anyone has tried this, or can say that it's safe, please let me know. Thanks.

It's safe. I can't vouch for the flavor. But it's safe. It's like marinading meat in dressing and then cooking it (a common practice) or using mayo on melted cheese sandwiches (another common practice).

Because of the preservatives and acid, dressing has a longer shelf life than tomato sauce. I've seen tomato sauce in the fridge start growing stuff after as little as a week, while mayo and creamy dressing never goes off.

Never considered that it could be unsafe. I've made a number of chicken and ranch pizzas in the past and they turned out okay...
