Need advice on using an aluminum plate for first time

Anyone have advice for prepping one for the first time?  Bought a 1/2" plate locally.  I need to get the writing off it and maybe season it?  Need help.

I believe my brother in law used some kind of solvent to take the lettering off of my plate. Be sure to wash thoroughly afterwards. Regarding seasoning check out my thread in this forum.

Thanks for the heads up on your thread, completely missed it.

Mixed results for my first attempt.  Was happy with my third pie, baked in just 3:30.  Wish I took pics, next time I guess.
