Author Topic: Effin' mouse ate my pineapple (Read 1709 times)

One of my pineapples decided to give a really late fruit last year. I didn't think there much chance it would ripen over the dead of winter, but it was pretty warm this year and it did. A couple days ago I went out to pick it, and some effin' mouse chewed a hole in it. Since then, they have completely hollowed out the shell and you can see right through it. They had their fun, but I fear that the sword of Damocles will not hang much longer...

Sounds like you need a bucket trap sitting close by. Best mouse trap ever if you ask me! just need a plank, dowel, 5 gallon bucket and can with a piece of bacon. At a buddies cabin up north I set one up for him and caught 21 mice in 1 nite

Mouse can walk up the plank and jump into the bucket to get food, but there is no plank on the inside, so mouse stays in the bucket until you deal with him...

Ah I see it now! Good thing b/c I would have fallen for this trap had I not read it here. How to trap Pizza obsessives. Big big bucket, plank, pizza at the bottom.

Seriously though, where do you put the dowel? And the can is turned upsided down with bacon under the can?

My guess was not quite right. Bacon goes in can, dowel goes through can and sets across the top of the bucket. Mouse tries to go get bacon out of can and falls into bucket.

Note the water or anti-freeze (in the winter) in the bottom of the bucket so they can't jump out. It's an old farmer trap for out in the barns and out buildings. I've heard of people setting these up for the 1st time and catching close to a hundred mice overnite! Dig a hole and bury them and set up as needed!

A couple swipes of peanut butter on the planks gives them an extra "sniff incentive to, shall we say, walk the plank!!

That's just it, AIN"T no better mouse trap! They can try to build'em better but the bucket has beat them all for a hundred years or more
