Wow ! - Now this is what I call DEEP dish ! - check this out !
« on: January 10, 2006, 11:51:57 AM »
Hi guys,

I just got an email from one of my good friends, she sent me the link to a video that is for a pizza peel,
but the video actually shows a guy making a DEEP dish pizza, and I mean DEEP !

The video is just over 7 megs large, so hopefully U R on a high speed connection.

See here: http://www.superpeel.com/vids/Deep Dish  - Text - Final.wmv

The baker is actually using a cake tin, a "springform" tin, --> the final product looks really good, and
now I have to get out one of my springform tins like this and try it.... it looks great !

If the video link above doesn't work for you, click the one below, it will send you to their webpage with a
boatload of other videos they have available.  anyway make sure to check out the deepdish video !

All their videos here:

That Super Peel looks pretty cool.

Does anyone use one, and if so, how do you like it?

Tried that method recently.  Used just a regular peel with a piece of paper.  Pulled the paper after a little bit and the ring off a little after that.

Great TIP cocoabean !, have done that with other things, but that technique would be great with pizzas also.  :D

Ok I gotta ask, what is that on top of that pizza ? - is that coconut ? ... sure looks like it.

What is this by the way ? it looks very interesting, and I've love to see what is inside this, if you have another image
to post .....

That's a great looking "mystery" bun there, it looks more like a bun of sorts.... I don't see a top, or opening,
so how did you achieve this ? did you fold dough over the top ?

For all I know it may not BE a pizza, so I hope you can tell us what this amazing looking food is  ;D

Just kidding, but that one looks like one of those things they push on the ice.

It's shredded Romano.  Does look like coconut, though.

It's basically a deep dish pizza like that video.  Turned out pretty soggy, but that was because I put incompatible things in it, like tomato pieces and raw vegetables and ricotta and cream cheese.  Really oozed out even thought the crust was very well stable.  Was freaking delicious cold out of the fridge the next day.  (Made two pizzas that day, a thin crust double layer with the thin and crispy with the ricotta and cream cheese between, so when this came out I was already well fed.)

I did fold the dough just back over the top.  Actually, the chunks where the dough overlapped was the most flavorful.  I used the Papa Del's dough.  I think a dough with a denser crumb might be a better choice, though.

For all I know it may not BE a pizza, so I hope you can tell us what this amazing looking food is  ;D

I'm not sure if it's technically a pizza or a pot pie or some pasty type thing. ;)
