Has anyone tried Carmolina brand whole tomatoes?  Whats your opinion if you have, I tried and really liked it.

I thought the Carmelina San Marzano Italian Peeled Tomatoes tasted wonderful using Bill’s sauce method.

Ok, so the ones I have dont say San Marzano on the ingredient list but it does says " whole peeled tomatoes and tomato puree"
And thats it.  But boy they sure do taste good, I bought them on sale for 1.99 at the italian market there the 28oz size, cant wait to make more.

Carmelina talks about their tomatoes relative to the DOP and non-DOP designations at its website at http://carmelinabrands.com/index.php?page=san-marzano. I assume that the words San Marzano appear on the labels for their products, as noted at http://carmelinabrands.com/index.php?page=retail.

That is interesting. I wonder what kind of Italian tomatoes Carmelina is using in those cans.

I can almost guarantee you that the can of Carmelina's that does not state in clear labeling that they are San Marzano's are almost surely not San Marzano's but rather just imported Italian tomatoes. The "San Marzano" designation is a huge selling point and would not be left off the label.

I recently started using these as well and holy crap, they are beyond delicious. It's the only tomato from a can that has ever brought me back to NY pizza sauce - light, fresh, delicious taste. It has easily made the sauce the best part of my pizza, and I barely have to add anything to what's in the can to make it delicious
