San Marzano Brand tomatoes now at Joe Caputo & Sons

I have heard a lot of good talk about the San Marzano Brand tomatoes (white label) but had not been able to track them down.  The other week I was at Joe Caputo's (great tomato mecca in NW Chicago burbs) and found them on the shelves.  They had three or four of the preparation varieties.  I picked up some whole peeled and crushed.  I was at their Palatine location (Rand Rd.) but I would assume their other stores would have them as well.

Not a big fan.

They have NOTHING to do with actual San Marzano tomatoes from Italy. 

The white label can is from California and the brand is called "San Marzano", but the similarity to actual Italian San Marzano tomates stops there.

I found them bland and watery.
