Author Topic: Refrigerated prep table??? (Read 764 times)

Getting ready to install my FGM 950 B here in a couple weeks. I have a friend who is looking to get rid of an almost new 60" stainless pizza refrigeration prep table unit at a great price. I was thinking of building it into my outdoor kitchen but wondering if this is a good or bad idea? Right now the plans are for a 60" counter space section right next to the oven for the pizza prep and toppings so the space would fit. Just not sure if long term (toppings on top of an ice tray) would pretty much be the same thing unless you all with waaaaay more pizza making experience would find the refrigerated table a huge bonus... It would also save me having to put in an outdoor fridge since the bottom of the entire unit is has more then enough fridge space. Thanks for any feedback.

If you can get this at a great deal why would you not want it? Will look awesome and keep beer cold right where you're at.

Attach some screening over/behind the vent slats and enjoy!

It is probably overkill for the amount of toppings you will use but the under fridge alone makes it worthwhile.

Does the refrigerated prep table also keep the prep surface cold? Great for pie dough, not so sure about pizza dough?

No, just the food pans and interior cabinet.

Here is the table. Just not sure if it is overkill and worth running all the time? But I can imagine in the middle of summer would be nice to close the toppings cover and keep everything away from the flies and cold (especially the beer

I would plug that dude in on Friday morning, fill it with beer an let er rip till Sun. night.
Or section off the bottom cabinet, install a nice 'lil tapper, throw a pony keg in there and call it a day. Won't cost much to run that thing full time.

The man does know his stuff!!! He wanted $800 offered 5 and looks like he will part with it for 6. So guess that means buy it then think about it haha....

Not me but I do like Homebrew if that counts for anything... Just went and took a look at this table again and man is that thing big.... I could honestly get away with just half of it I think but I am sure with parties it would come in handy. Is it like buying a boat where if I went smaller like 40" I would soon want a bigger one? I was thinking the extra fridge could store dough balls etc and the other beer/drinks. For the condiment coolers one could store salads and other items that would be nice to stay cold during a party and the other pizza toppings. I really like the idea of a table but scared this thing might be a little big as I only have big parties a few times a year. Any advice from prep table owners out there?

I do have a smaller pizza prep fridge shown at Reply 639 (second picture down) http://www.pizzamaking.com/forum/index.php/topic,18407.msg235194.html#msg235194 If I recall right that pizza prep fridge was about 500.00 used. At the time I could have purchased a bigger pizza prep fridge used for about the same price, but since my pizza stand at market is so small I had to purchase the smaller pizza prep fridge to fit into my small pizza stand with all of the other equipment that was needed.
