The worst restaurant in the world, including pizza
« on: May 14, 2013, 09:04:07 PM »
Watch the Youtube vid of Ramsey walking away from a Restaurant Impossible.  The owners are 1000% percent psycho, and that is not a mistype of the zero.  They need to be institutionalized NOW.

edit-well embedding youtube doesnt work, so either copy/paste those Youtube  IDs into youtube or search for "restaurant impossible amy season 16".

It is well worth the 40 minute watch, even though it is painful.

I know diddly about the restaurant biz, but I think I know enough to be absolutely certain these people need to find another line of work:

I do know something about the biz, and I am surprised they only went through 100 people in a year, frankly.  Normal turnover is usually pretty high anyway, but most people would split the first night you took their tips.  They must be blowing through his fortune pretty quickly.

I've seen some bizarre customers over the years, but I've only met one owner that even comes close.

We were out with another couple. I ordered a veal chop and it came out literally frozen solid. You know I'm all for rare, if not raw, meat, but come on, I have to be able to at least cut it, right? The waiter actually argued with me a little when I wanted to send it back.  ??? I was a little worried about what they might do to it, so I didn't eat the replacement. I wasn't going to say anything, but the couple we were with had something wrong too, and the lady wanted to see the owner. When he came out, she got about six words out before he told her to be quiet, and this is a direct quote as best I can remember - he told her: "you listen to me, I've been in this business for 30 years, and you are just a little girl."

Birds of a feather.  He seems just as crazy as she is.  Hard to believe they are still in business.  Yelling at customers and calling them pansies.   :o

Yes, that is very good.  Sometimes, I forget, and when you forget that you are in water, you can drown.

Love the video. In the context of this thread however, I can't seem to think of anything different to think about Amy and Sammy that I might choose to think might explain why the way they act might somehow be explainable in a way other than the obvious.

Just some late night musings:

These two clearly operate in the default setting - the world revolves around them and everyone else is to blame for their woes. Every bad decision they make based on a very warped view of the world creates consequences that reinforce that view and makes it impossible for them to pay attention to what is really happening. You have to wonder about the decision to appear on the show much less everything that have done since.

And what about Ramsay? If we could see the unedited video, would he come across as the benevolent mentor simply trying to help them improve their business or is he doing a Jerry Springer, egging the owners on and punching all the right buttons so that viewers can feel a sense of schadenfreude and superiority in the name of ratings?

And what about us when we swim into the kitchen to cook something? Even if we are having a really bad day, can we make the choice to focus on creating something for our customers or loved ones to enjoy in spite of whatever is bothering us?
