If it's just half as good as the first I will be very happy.

Trek fan here too.  Not as much stamina though, for staying up until to the wee hours for the first showing!  Are you going to smuggle in some homemade pizza for the event?  Over on Serious Eats a few years ago, there was someone who mentioned smuggling in homemade pizza to a movie and sharing it with some complete strangers.  I've always wondered how they did that.

The concessions at the theatres are out of hand.  I usually smuggle in some water.  Haven't figured out the pizza thing.  It really has me puzzled.  Or maybe it was just someone spreading an urban myth.

I gave it a B-
I thought they borrowed a little too much from Wrath of Kahn at the end.  The acting was very good but the plot was a little weak.

After the 1st movie I came out of the theater texting everyone that they had to come and see this movie.  For the 2nd I couldn't wait for it to be over.  :(

Saw it with the wife on Friday.  I think I'd give it a B+... although she liked it better.  It was a fun movie, but there were several plot elements that left me scratching my head (wth was a tribble doing on board?)

I was off work today so we went to see the movie. I liked it a lot. I give it an A-. I really liked how the characters accents are similar to the original cast. The story is typical movie generation Star Trek. I have been watching since it first appeared on TV.
And now they are on a 5 year journey, to explore , where no MAN has gone before. Of course they corrected that to be, where no ONE has gone before. Ah CORRECTNESS, don't you just love it. >:(

Mark

That really stood out to me too, since that is about the only part of star trek I knew before the last two movies came out.

That change was made in one of the earlier movies... I think it was Star Trek III.  It was right at the end of the movie, whichever one it was.
