King Arthur free shipping deal
« on: June 03, 2013, 01:00:57 PM »
I just got an email from KA: free shipping on your $60 order till midnight Thursday. Damn, I just ordered some Baker's Special Dry Milk and since that was the only thing, I got hammered on shipping. Time to stock up, I guess.

Thanks for the heads up @redox, yeah they really nail you on shipping, now's the time to buy your King Arthur needs. Sometimes they even send you a % off offer for a future order.

I just got it so haven't had a chance to use it yet but I'm looking forward to using it in BTB's Thin Crust w/ semolina pizza. And other recipes, of course.

They claim it to be very good in breads which is how I plan to use it, just was a little leary of the price, but even store brand dry milk has gotten awful expensive! Thanks.

I just ordered $60+ of goodies including 6 bags of KASL flour, I'm going to try some NY style pies. Got free shipping so I know it works.

What % is their high "gluten flour". Is the "italian-style" good for NP pie?   Thanks!  :chef:

Their Sir Lancelot flour is very high, upper 13, near 14 %. A pie made with straight Sir can turn to shoe leather toughness at times! :'(

Bob,

The KASL high-gluten flour has a protein content of 14.2 +/- 0.2%.

I would stay away from the Italian style flour for Neapolitan style pizzas. It is a low protein domestic clone of Italian flour. I wouldn't touch it with a 10-ft peel.

It makes great bagels, I highly recommend it for them, add some malted barley syrup to your order!

Jay,

If you haven't tried the KASL before, I think it will be a useful experience.

And you can always lighten it up by mixing with some AP flour.

Already planned to do that, I ordered some non-diastatic malt powder. I love bagels. Often start the day with a bag-egg-el sandwich.
