Norma, your commitment is amazing.   Were you up late or up early?  "didn't get finished with that batch until 4:00 AM this morning"

Bill,

It really wasn't a commitment, but a need to get the dough done okay, or what might be okay.  I originally wanted to go to bed about 11:30 PM, but I forgot I didn't make my dough or figure out on the preferment dough calculation tool how to make bigger dough balls than the last time.  I was up until 4:00 AM this morning fooling around.  The night before I went to Craig's pizza summit I only had about an hour of sleep.

Does anyone know if this flour is available for purchase to the public yet?

I don't own a business but would love to get my hands on some.

DenaliPete,

I don't know if the new GM flour will be available to the public, or if you will need to purchased though a distributor.  I know Trenton Bill told me the new GM flour should soon be available though distributors in Trenton, NJ.  If you want me to ask Joe Kelley about your question I can email him.

the CT sales rep has told me the samples are only available for businesses.  He gave me the name of two places that would be carrying it but the date was "near future"

I called the 800 number and the lady put me in touch with Greg Labens (3175145951) out of Indy.  One very nice guy.  He was very happy to send me a bag and stated that he has been sending quite a few bags out as of late.  He said he was glad to do it as the distributorship for this type of flour is still forming.  On my end I will try to get GFS to jump on board so that it will be readily available in my area.  He was VERY excited to hear that Craig thought it to be a superior product.  My guess is flour guys don't get out much.  Thank you Norma for getting this info out.

I got a bag a few weeks ago as well. Indeed the distribution of this flour is not yet established.
GM contacted to distribute this flour retail locally. They put me in touch with a wholesaler and everything. Certainly wasn't expecting that from such a big company.

Once you are done with your 50 lbs sample bag, ... in 6 month, let me know  :-D

Funny Story - Re: General Mills Neapolitan Hearth Style Pizza Flour?
« Reply #114 on: September 12, 2013, 09:46:41 PM »
After reading here that several people were getting samples from GM, I thought I would give it a try.

I emailed the local SF Area distributor and introduced myself as a forum member and explained that the forum was a group of enthusiasts and professionals and asked how I could obtain some.  Sure enough, he offered to send me a sample and asked me for my address, etc.  He told me he would send me a 50 pound bag and it would arrive in about 5 business days.

Wow, I really only bake most of the time for my wife and myself so that is probably a year's worth of flour.

But, it didn't come.   :'( 10 business days, nada  :'( :'(.  15 days, nope.   :'( :'(

So, I sent him a note - "hate to really bother you, but......"  He said he would check.

10 days later, nothing.  But, then, over a month after the initial contact, the flour arrived!

150 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!      :o

I think each one of the multiple contacts resulted in the initiation of a shipment.

I wrote him a note and thanked him and told him what happened and that it will all go to good use.

50 pounds to a friend with his own WFO  :D
50 pounds to the local food bank
50 pounds for me!  :chef:

I just spoke with Greg only minutes ago and I almost begged him NOT to send me a gimme/freebee and he would have nothing of it. I explained where I got the info (from this site), we talked about the BlackStone and he said he was just about back to the hotel in New Orleans and would fire up the computer and get a 50 pound bag of GM Neapolitan00 sent off to me!!! I have to figure out something as a gift of gratitude for him, simply awesome. Asked if I could AT LEAST pay for shipping....none of that. What a great guy!!!!! Said I should have it by the end of the week or early next, WOW!

I tried several options here in MN to buy it locally but to no avail. Wasn't looking for the freebee but just worked out that way. One person locally hinted at maybe being able to get it but I would have had to buy a pallet of 50# bags, probably a couple thousand pounds worth??? Looking forward to givinng it a try as the SI 00 seems to have gone away for now. Good timing!

Another name to make note of so I'll drop it here for record is the name on the Return Address on my shipping label. It may have been mentioned in this thread or not but here it is anyway:
