Hope everyone had a Fabulous 4th!!!!
« on: July 05, 2013, 09:44:48 AM »
Here's to hoping everyone had a wonderful fourth of July!
Decided to try some pizza on the grill! (on some pans of course)  Had the flame on low, temp register at about 600, but when done the pies looked absolutely great except for one thing.....They were "fused" to the pans. After struggling with the sharpest spatula I have, we peeled off the toppings and put it on hamburger buns!  I wold have taken pictures but I was just to pissed off....probably would have thrown the camera in the pool   :-D
Other than that the beers were nice and cold!
Happy belated 4th everyone!

There's barely anything that gets me madder than a failed pizza launch.  It just burns me up.  But then I go back and try again.  And hopefully it works better the next time.

Hope you had a nice 4th of July too.

Regards,

sounds like you either did them on screens or unoiled pans. Even screens need a good oiling and with a wetter dough still might be a mess :-D

My wife and I  took my twin daughters and husband to dinner for their 42nd BD. Was great to be together. Now back at work for one more day this week.

Actually the twins do live in the same house, have forever. Jessica, the single twin actually made a joke about the very subject you raise. Funny life we live.

Used brand new screens!    Used a napkin with oil to wipe them down with oil but maybe not enough....do they need to be cured by any chance?

Like most pans and such, old ones get better as they age with the non-stick thing but higher hydration doughs will sink into the screen and grab hold pretty quick non-stick or not. The heavier the topping the more it will sink into the screen too.

+1  Yep, and possibly you had the made pizza sit on the screen a few minutes before grilling...major no-no.

I know the feeling. It doesn't happen often but when it does, melt down. I had a nice fourth and I hope everyone else did as well.

Had a small catering gig for 20 people but still had fun. Here's one of the last pizzas baked around 725 in the fgm. A catch all for the help ;) had mozz cherry tomato, crispy prosciutto and finished w arugula.
