Dried jelly fish, pigs feet, head of just about any animal, tripe, rocky mountains, pig tails, pig ears, blood sausage (but its pushing it), tendons, chitterlings, pigs feet, brain fritters, rabbit, birds of all sorts in a tomato sauce, back in the 70's....mussels believe it or not (oooooh! crab bait!), same with calamari.....chipoline (work with a lot of mexicans),
MY parents, both 10 years old in WW2, in Italy.........food was non existent, and even with no war.....poverty was abound. During the war, my mom eat boiled GRASS, just to fill her stomach......and enough corn meal, that to this day, she cant even look at polenta.
Funny, what was gross in the past.......is not trendy "food to table"
Best thing about growing up, for me, was meals......so much of what we eat, and HOW we eat is now popular in the usa.......and I have my parents to thank.
