Mama Sbarro's Signature Sauces to be Sold at Select Sbarro Locations Throughout the Nation; Sauce Launch Kicks Off Company's 50th Anniversary Celebration
MELVILLE, N.Y., Feb. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Sbarro, the nation's leading quick service Italian restaurant company, today announced that for the first time ever, its signature pasta sauces will be available for purchase at select Sbarro locations throughout the nation. Italian food lovers can now enjoy Sbarro's high-quality sauces at their own dinner tables.
The sauces, which come in 25 oz. jars, are offered in four flavors, Vodka, Marinara, Tomato Basil and Bolognese, and are made with 100% imported Italian tomatoes. The recipes for the sauces come straight from Mama Sbarro's first kitchen in Naples, Italy and have been passed down through the Sbarro family for generations.
The launch of the sauce coincides with the 50th anniversary celebration of the arrival of Sbarro founders Carmela and Gennaro Sbarro to the U.S. Over the past five decades, Sbarro has grown from one store in Brooklyn, N.Y. to more than 1,000 locations throughout the world.
"We're proud to kick off our anniversary celebration by giving our loyal customers and pasta lovers everywhere a chance to replicate our classic recipes in their own homes," said Joe Borruso, corporate chef for Sbarro. "These sauces stay true to the Sbarro tradition of creating authentic, Southern Italian foods using only the freshest, highest-quality ingredients including imported tomatoes and carefully selected spices."
"For the first time ever, we are extending the Sbarro experience beyond the four walls of our restaurants," said Peter Beaudrault, president and CEO of Sbarro. "Now families across the country can bring home the famous sauce and old world flavors that helped Sbarro grow from a single restaurant into the world's leading quick service Italian restaurant company."
In addition to selling the sauce in select restaurants, Sbarro will look to increase its availability to the public through partnerships with leading supermarkets and gift basket companies.
