Harvesting Fresh Basil
« on: July 20, 2013, 07:33:13 AM »
I have a box with 6 basil plants, was wondering if it regenerates as you pluck the leaves from them? Also, is it better to harvest from the top of the plant or the bottom?

Keep pinching the tops back at the next set of leaves down and it will spread and regenerate. You want to be sure you pinch them back before they have a chance to flower.

About mid season I wack all my plants off mid way up, then they double in size.
Then as long as I need Basil I pinch tops off, as far as leaves go I take from all over the plant.
