Around the corner to Luzzos. This place has been on the hit list for some time. Frank at Vesta loves this and I see why and a similarity as well.
The place is  very cool and unique upsidedown furniture on the ceiling ...  big ole coal oven but was burning wood. This crust was sensational  very tender. but buffalo was not as good  overall axcellent Pie!! I went and spoke to Pizziallo and he did diveludge theflour after a little nudgeand telling him how it was so great. Dough is not made there but was room temp

Last time I was in NY I did Luzzos and Motorino for the same lunch. No artichokes though. Brings back very good memories.

So, John, was Luzzo's the coal fired pizzeria the coal fired pizza of your dreams- the one you've been searching for?

Btw, if you like Artichoke's square, you'll LOVE Lo Duca's Grandma.  I've had both, and, while the Artichoke is a solid offering, Lo Duca blows it away.  I don't know how often your travels bring you down to Somerset, but, if you're ever in that area, you have to try it.

Luzzos was using wood so No it was not the coal fired of my dreams  But a very nice epresentation os a $15 NYC Margherita  ;) The coal fored places do not use this flour either.
The artichioke was not square?   the sicilian was square thicker and GREAT too they dont sting on the small blocks of cheese they put on all pizzas
Its timing also scott
The big round artichoke just came out when we walked in and was placed down and sold out immediately  we got a very fresh and very tasty slice
Gonna be very hard to beat that guy but you know me Im a any slice- anytime  :-D

John, doesn't Luzzos say 'Coal' on the sign? They're not burning wood in a coal oven, are they?

So, wait a sec, at Artichoke, it was the slice from the round pie that blew you away, not the square?

i will answer on my take the square cut was very good lots of flavor a nice light crust. the artichoke was very different than anything i have tried on pizza dough. it was sickening rich, but at the same time really enjoyable. is there a thread in the forum on cloning this pie??
