Long Story - the Reader's Digest Version is:
Back in March, an $80 valve in our dishwasher broke while we were away from the house. Our son discovered the flood, started mopping up and we joined him 20 minutes later to finish drying everything up. But, 3 days later, the floors in the kitchen and hallway warped.
Enter the insurance company and disaster crew. Everything dried out, floors ripped up from the sub flooring and more.
We needed to move out of the house for the 2 last months, every stick of furniture out, and the floors were replaced. sanded and finished. We just moved back in last week.
Of course, "as long as we were at it", my wife and I decided to repaint the interior of the house and update the kitchen. The new cabinetry will not show up until around October 1. In the meantime, our kitchen is "Chez Home Depot." But, I cooked with the WFO tonight for the first time since June.
