Instant Dry Yeast to Fresh Yeast Cake weight conversion help?
« on: August 15, 2013, 08:53:42 PM »
Hi again --

Looking to switch from IDY to fresh yeast.  Was wondering if there is a typical formula to convert to.

If we use 2 oz of IDY now in our batch, what would that covert into as far as weight of Fresh Yeast to use?

Any help appreciated.
Trying out because I keep hearing that fresh yeast really has a better flavor per say .... any truth to this from your views?

I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but the search function can be your friend. ;D

According to the SAF conversion chart you will need to replace your 2-ounces of IDY with 6-ounces of compressed yeast.
