BS & 2 Stone users, where do you measure IR temps?
« on: August 21, 2013, 10:11:32 PM »
On my 2 stone I have been Averaging IR temps when reporting here. Just wondering where other 2Stone and BS users measure their IR bottom stone temps. I find as much as a 100 F difference in location temps at times depending on where I aim the gun. ???

Not sure if I'm doing right bit i turn my BS to low then check center of the top and bottom stones. My thinking is to not have the blast of the flame influencing my reading.

BS and from the center of the bottom stone here as well. I was doing it in other places, but for the sake of consistency, at least for my own edification, by taking it from the same location each time, I know I can replicate those results.

thanks, so since your flame is more directed to the side of the stone, if you measured on the edge would the temp be different than in the middle?

Yes. From one side to the other it can vary as much as 100 degrees.
