Thanks for the thoughts. I'm interested in the ideal size--not ideal type. I plan to start with wooden.

I have the 14.5" gi peel with 20" handle, I like the size for the Blackstone.  I think the 16" would fit but it would be a tight, Norma did some 16" pizzas in her blackstone - take a look at her getting the blackstone from Cabelas thread, she might have talked about the size.

I have never tried it but getting a pizza out of the blackstone with a wood peel but it might be tough to scoop it up.   If you don't get a gi peel you may also want to get a metal peel to take the pizza out of the oven.    The GI eliminates the need for two peels.  Talk to John if you ever decide to get a GI, he'll take care of you.

PizzaNJ,

If you are interested at Reply 67 http://www.pizzamaking.com/forum/index.php/topic,26483.msg270476.html#msg270476  and the next posts are where I cut my older wooden peel to be able to fit it into the Blackstone unit.

Thanks; I'll have a look. I hadn't thought about doing some adjustments on slightly too large peel.

I have a metal peel I use for removal. I want to have a wooden one for launching. So far my launching technique has been sub-standard.

I was using an aluminum peel to retrieve out of my Blackstone.  When I got my 2Stone, the first pie revealed the aluminum peel was too wide by a little bit.  Now I use a 14" wood peel for launch and retrieval.   No problems at all with a wood peel.
