Pizza Ovens
« on: October 07, 2013, 06:12:09 PM »
I'm Christy and have been trying to perfect my pizza crusts.  This is not possible with my home oven, as it does not get hot enough. None of the gas ones (that claim to get really hot) actually do either.   I joined this board to help decide which wood-fired oven to buy.

So many choices - build one yourself (I've seen plans that cost not more than $100 in materials), purchase a kit or a pre-built unit.  I've even seen a small $325 sheet metal unit that uses smoker pellets.

For me, a wood fired unit is a large open masonry cavity in which you build a fire (doesn't really matter what it looks like) - heat the masonry until you have lots of radiant heat, push the coals to the back and you're ready to bake.  However, I'm sure there are those that have much more experience that I have that will post.  ;)
