I'm new to the forum and wanted to start off with a great question. Has anyone experimented with some different toppings with outstanding results? I am having a pizza party on Friday and I want to knock some peoples socks off. Has anyone ever tried a mango pizza? Might just be a california thing

Call me old fashioned, but I prefer "regular" toppings on my pizzas.
Pepperoni
Mushrooms
Black olives
Onions
Green peppers
Sweet Italian sausage
Alone or any combination of the above.
I know I'm not much help.

My favorite, pepperoni, hot, hot sausage and pineapple chunks in heavy syrup.
We buy hot sausage then add crushed red peppers to that while precooking.
Mighty tasty!

Try some smoked meats, brisket, sausage, and the like chopped up.
I've had some people really like that.
Personally, I'm more like Steve and I like the standard toppings.

try crab. shrimp, and scallops with fontina cheese
or
go to the bookstore and get a book by McNair called Pizza. Great book to vary the standard toppings.
I know of a couple of other pizzas that have very different toppings, the kinda thing that makes you say "that would never taste good BUT it does

Thanks for the suggestions. Sounds like we have a lot of meat lovers out there. I enjoy the traditional toppings as well, especially in my calzones, but I like to experiment every once in a while.

One of the weirdest things I've seen is ranch dressing as a pizza topping.

I've got a sister inlaw who puts that stuff on everything, or at least dips it in there.
Hell, she brings her own bottle to family gatherings, just in case it isn't there.
