Hi I just moved to the States and can't find fresh yeast... Do you have any idea where I can buy some?

Thank you

Moutse,

Maybe you can get some ideas from the recent thread at http://www.pizzamaking.com/forum/index.php/topic,27922.msg282322.html#msg282322.

A little more specificity as to where you are in the US might help others help you.

Some supermarkets carry fresh yeast made by Fleischmann's or Red Star:

http://www.breadworld.com/products.aspx
and
http://www.redstaryeast.com/products/red-star%C2%AE/red-star%C2%AE-cake-fresh-yeast

It is found in the dairy department. As Red Star says, it is found mostly in the Midwest and Northeast.

Another possibility is to ask a high quality bakery in your area if they use fresh yeast and if they can sell you some.

When I wanted to TRY it, I went to my local pizzeria and bought a few dollars worth.

Where do you live?

I know this is a little late, but I just joined the forum and if you're still looking for fresh yeast, go to any local bakery, you can usually pick up a 1/4 pound of yeast for a little more than a $1
