Yeast free pizza dough
« on: March 12, 2006, 05:55:03 PM »
Has anyone in here tried a yeast free pizza dough, possibly using baking powder? How have the results been? Does anyone have a recipe?

mattbau43,

I haven't tried making yeast-free pizza doughs but you might take a look at Reply 46 at http://www.pizzamaking.com/forum/index.php/topic,637.msg17235.html#msg17235.

Many commercial take-and-bake and bake-to-rise pizzas also use chemical leavening systems.

This thread is just for you.

I posted this info not long ago about my stir 'n' roll pizza dough ( NO yeast )

try it out and see how it goes.

Maybe use some gingerale in it, instead of water to lighten the dough a little

I'm completely (commercial) yeast free.  Only sourdough starter.   Mmmmm!

Yum ! , I really want to try out a sourdough pizza.... that must be awesome !

If I lived in San Fransisco that would be totally amazing, I hear they have about the best airbourne
yeast in the United States.

Anyway amazing stuff, as I'm thinking of starting up sourdough again... a lady friend of mine is going to send
me some in an enveloppe, the guy she got it from just takes a pastry brush and paints it onto a piece of plastic
and then lets it dry.  There's enough there to get your starter going, a really neat way to send it in the mail !

You just flick it off into your vessel with your finger nail or whatever and then start adding some water to it
to bring it back to life....

Yep that's what I do.  No flickin' though.  Send me your address and I'll send some your way.

Just add the flakes to your pizza flour and water in a dedicated container.  Give it a stir.  You'll need to feed it on a regular basis.
