Saudi experince in building hybrid oven
« on: November 30, 2013, 07:10:58 PM »
Greetings everyone,
First, I'd like to thank you all in this informative forum where I used it (among other websites) as a resource since I'm a native Arabic speaker and I couldn't find any Arabic resources regarding home pizza ovens  and I became interested in these kind of ovens.
Now, I wanna share with you my experience in building my own oven after a very long time of gathering information, pictures, and different details.
Of course, Google Translate was my friend in this journey (funny and strange translations in sometimes  :-D ) (my son is writing this behalf of me)
I started with the objective of building a hybrid oven (G/WFO) using the best and cost effective materials and methods. I've chosen the Neapolitan style. Surely, another thing was on my mind while preparing the measurements, is that I'll be using it for traditional dishes and not only pizza.

So I wanted to share the experience with you guys. I'll be posting the pictures periodically

Part #5

Today's pictures will focus mostly on finishing the dome. I've used several temperature isolation components such as bricks, insulation blanket, and heat-resistant cement.

Yes indeed. I'm still looking around for colors, styles, and patterns

However, the cost of some mosaic tiles could exceeds the whole thing's material  :-D !!

Good luck friend...I do hope you will post up some preliminary tile ideas once you are close to your decision.  :chef:

That is a sweet looking oven!  I really like how you used the tile.  Is that a gas line I see?

Great job, looking forward to the finishes.

Look at a stone cutter hammering away at his rock, perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it. Yet at the hundred-and-first blow it will split in two, and I know it was not the last blow that did it, but all that had gone before.

How hot will the gas get the oven? Beautiful execution of the construction! Love the down-lighting. So many reasons to be envious!

John K

When using the gas only, the temperature reaches about norh of 700 F (~370 C). Unless left for at least 2 hours it can get there.

However, when supplied with some firewood, it can reachs up to 900 F (483 C) in shorter time ;D
Also, I like to use the firewood to give some meals a good smokey taste  :chef:

I'd like to share with some of the outcomes of this oven. I've been experienting with different dishes both traditional and international.
This post will include some pizza, calzones, cinnamo rolls, and of course Kabbab.
