Just a little note if you are going to DeLorenzos in Trenton I hear they are moving to Robbinsville ...not sure when but its in the wind... I think maybe then they will put in a bathroom..

I think it's Hamilton Square.  I'm not sure though.  It will be nice.  You won't have to worry about getting shot while getting your pizza anymore.  Although it may be worth taking a bullet for.

Its really a shame but these are times we live in...I've been going there since I was a little kid with family.... It was such a family place--it seems time has stood still when you walk in. Old Italian familiy still running it..Chic who is still alive comes out of the back kitchen with a cane and sits down and talks to you, makes you feel like family. But as you said the neighborhood is changing and not for the better. I turned my neighbor onto the place he's from Pittsburgh and loved the pie.. but when we left I could'nt figure out why a security guard saying to us "have a nice night"... then it dawned on me -- its a shame.

yeah, I really only go there in the summer when it's light out.  I made reservations and ate their friday at 12 pm a few months ago.  That was good.  Then reading the paper, we came to find out someone was shot about a block up while we were inside eating.  The one time I've been there at night, they had police officers outside eating a pie which was nice.  I think Sammy might have a deal where they stick around and he feeds them.

A lot of great pizza places are in dangerous ghetto neighborhoods where Italians once lived way back in the day.  I don't care, I'll go to Trenton, N.J. for some excellent pizza any time day or night.  Some people have never tasted real pizza and they don't understand!

I saw this place called Raybari on the Food Channel and my mouth was watering.  They make a Sicilian pie that looks so good I could almost taste it just by looking at it.  If I lived in the New York area I'd gain ten pounds in a month.

I really like John's Boy in Glen Rock, NJ.  This is a traditional NY style pizza with a very flavorful crust.

American Flatbread in Waitsfield, VT - Organic wood fired oven - a must taste!
Also try Red Hen baking company organic bread while you are up there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. Le Vesuvio - Cannes, Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France. The standard for which I judge all my other pizza experiences. I lived in Tuscany where the pizza was served room temperature with a splash of tomato sauce. It wasn't very appealing to me. During the summer we would drive from our home in Italy to Cannes, France. I would have to say that as a foundation, Tuscany and Provence were pretty good places. The first place we'd go once we'd settled in, was Le Vesuvio for the best pie I ever had.
2. Pepe's - New Haven, Connecticut. This is the closest I have come to Le Vesuvio.

All but 2 are wood burning ovens , the Cheeseboard, and Delphinia are not. These places are keeping the tradition and standards alive for the Neapolitan style pizza. Eat pizza every day
