Il Forno Pizza - Decatur,IL

It's been a while since I made any sort of contribution to this place, so here I am with which is my personal favorite pizza ever.

Now Il Forno Woodfire pizza is a place that is not more then a three minute drive from my home and while driving by I would always smell that wood fire and delicious smells I would just drive by hearing that their prices were expensive and well just sometimes you can be a pizza snob and stick with what you know, but one adventurous Saturday morning my wife and I were hungry and our daughter was spending the night at my sister in law's we decided to drop her off and head on over to a lunch here. Figured if we didn't like the place we could at least walk through the parking lot over to a favorite place of ours in Krekles and have a soft serve cone. Going into the place I liked the atmosphere it is what used to be several bars so walking in you get that slight sent of stale beer (which some people may hate but it brings back fond child hood memories of me, my dad and my brother and sister.) Anyway, the music playing softly on the pa systems was some great older 50's & 60's songs Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and so on so again already I was liking the place.

As soon as we walked in we were greeted and seated right away. A waiter came over with our menus taking our drink orders and brought us out some fresh baked bread then our drinks. On the table was a wine menu, a Parmesan cheese shaker and a bottle of olive oil with a sprig of rosemary and a couple cloves of garlic in it which we used on the bread and boy was it tasty. We made some appetizer choices as this place isn't just about pizza everything we have had out of this place is good I just always stick with pizza as the entree and usually have a toss up for appetizer between these two.

lasgnaga fritta.

But on to what you guys care about what we all care about right? That being the pizza and man I love it. They bring a big #10 can that is empty and cleaned out to put the pizza tray on which is something I never really seen before which I liked.

The Formmagio Pizza (Mozzarella, fontina, parmesan, tomato sauce, and fresh oregano.) one I had to pretty much force my wife to try which is now her personal favorite and wont even touch the Margharitta pizza.

My personal favorite Margherita Pizza (Tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, and fresh basil) I wont lie before this when I had pizza I was a snob or what have you only toppings I stuck with is what you always here (Chz. Pep, etc) so getting this pie with fresh pieces of basil was a shocker but holy slice the bite of the basil it is like it soaked up all the pizza flavor my god it is amazing.

For your added Bennefit I have provided both the website and facebook links to my personal favorite pizza establishment to date hope this was helpful.
