Grotto Pizza, Rehoboth, Delaware
« on: May 18, 2014, 10:14:41 PM »
My daughter went to help friends to get their summer trailer ready at the shore today.  I told her not to bring me home a slice of Grotto's Pizza because the cold pizza she brought me home before didn't taste that good reheated.  She did bring me a whole Grotto's par-baked pizza home.  It is called “Grotto's Take and Bake”.  I thought I wonder how it would taste since it was par-baked.  The Grotto pizza did not come with directions for finishing the bake.  I turned on the oven to 500 and let it preheat for about 10 minutes.  The pizza did bake the rest of the way well.

I now do like Grotto's pizza.  :-D  The sauce is slightly sweet and the cheese, or blend of cheeses are good.  The spiral pattern of applying the sauce give a different taste with each bite.  The bottom crust and rim crust were good tasting.  They both had a sweet taste when eaten, but not too sweet.  The bottom crust was nice and evenly browned.  I ate 3 slices.  For a crust that does not have oven spring I still liked the crust very much.

I never read the History of Grotto Pizza until tonight.  I thought it was interesting.
